The Designer

Anyango Mpinga is a Kenyan multi-disciplinary artist, social entrepreneur, and cultural innovator whose work promotes circularity, inclusion, and community empowerment. Through storytelling, she tackles issues of cultural identity, spirituality, and social justice, while incorporating emerging technologies like 3D design into her fashion creations. Her digital fashion pieces are featured on DREST, the world's first interactive luxury styling game. Her innovative approach to textiles has garnered her nominations for the Green Carpet Fashion Awards (Milan 2019) by Eco-Age and Camera Moda Nazionale, an International Design Award by UN ITC/Shetrades (Geneva 2016), and a Designer of the Year Award (Kenya 2017).

Anyango has participated in numerous art projects, including the "Creatures En Mouvement" Exhibition at Institut Suedois in Paris (April 2019), "Curiosity and the Cloth" at the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial in Western Australia (September 2021), and "The Art of Resilience" in September 2021 at the High Line Nine Gallery in New York, supporting the UNESCO World Heritage Site Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. She was chosen to represent Kenya at the "Colors of Africa Exhibition" (2022), curated by Design Indaba for Google Arts. Her contributions to literature include "Consumed" by Aja Barber, "Not African Enough" by the Nest Collective, and the coffee table books "Aspirations of a Generation - Youth of Kenya" and "NAIROBI - The City that Calls Your Name" by Footprints Press. Featured in Vogue, Elle Magazine, The Irish Times, Forbes, Business Daily, CNN, The Guardian, WWD, and as one of the artists in Beyonce's Black Parade in 2020, Anyango's work has received widespread recognition.

In addition to her many accolades, Anyango was honored in 2022 by The Conscious Fashion Campaign, an initiative of the Fashion Impact Fund (US) in partnership with the United Nations Office for Partnerships and the PVBLIC Foundation. The campaign highlights global women social entrepreneurs who are making strides in the fashion industry. Anyango serves as a Mentor and Advocate for the Swarovski Foundation’s Creatives for our Future Program. She has also served as an Advisor for the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network.
